🩺 AI Symptom Checker
Provides general health information based on described symptoms. Organises information by urgency level. Does not diagnose medical conditions. Always consult a healthcare professional.
BMI uses the standard WHO formula. Meal plans are AI-generated suggestions based on your preferences. Allergy checker screens against EU 14 regulated allergens — always verify product labels directly.

Understanding Dietary Requirements — A Complete Guide
Millions of people worldwide follow specific dietary requirements for religious, ethical, health or personal reasons. Afiya AI supports five major dietary filters to help everyone make informed food choices.
🕌 Halal
Halal means permissible in Arabic. For Muslims, halal food must not contain pork, blood, alcohol or animals not slaughtered according to Islamic law. Many food additives like E471 and E441 have uncertain halal status. Our ingredient checker cross-references JAKIM, IFANCA and HMC to give instant verdicts.
🌱 Vegan
Vegan diets exclude all animal products including meat, fish, dairy, eggs and honey. Many food additives are derived from animal sources — carmine (E120) comes from insects, gelatine (E441) from animal bones, and some E-codes like E471 can be animal-derived. Our checker flags all non-vegan ingredients.
🌾 Gluten-Free
People with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity must avoid wheat, rye, barley and sometimes oats. Gluten can hide in unexpected places including soy sauce, some medications and many processed foods. Our checker identifies gluten-containing ingredients using GFFS standards.
🥛 Dairy-Free
Dairy-free diets exclude milk and all milk-derived products including butter, cheese, cream and whey. Dairy derivatives appear in many processed foods, breads and chocolates. Our checker identifies all dairy-derived ingredients including hidden milk proteins like casein and lactose.
Understanding E-Codes
E-codes are numbers assigned to food additives approved in the EU. Many E-codes have different status across dietary categories — E471 is doubtful for halal and vegan diets, E120 is haram and non-vegan, E441 is usually haram. Use our free ingredient checker to verify any E-code instantly →

Calorie and nutrition figures from the photo scanner are AI-powered estimates, not clinically precise measurements. Results are based on USDA FoodData Central reference data and AI image analysis. Accuracy depends on photo quality, lighting, visible portion size and food complexity. Results can vary and should not be used for clinical or medical purposes. For precise tracking, weigh food using kitchen scales.
